DECATUR, Miss. — The East Central Community College Lady Warriors capped off sophomore night with a statement win, defeating No. 2 Northwest Mississippi Community College in the MACCC on Wednesday evening inside Founders Gymnasium on Community Bank Court.
The Lady Warriors claimed the match 3–1 (25–14, 23–25, 25–19, 28–26), fueled by a record-breaking performance from sophomore Cecilia Hikari-Hosak, who shattered the program's single-match kill record with 23 kills while hitting an impressive .377 on 53 attempts.
Freshman Addison Hyde added eight kills with a .727 hitting percentage, while Ainslee Copeland tallied 10 kills and contributed on both sides of the net with two blocks. Setter Anna Wojtczak controlled the offense with 44 assists, and libero Emily Truan anchored the defense with 22 digs.
The victory over one of the conference's top programs marked a defining moment for ECCC's sophomore class and pushed the Lady Warriors to 12-11 overall and 8-7 in MACCC play.
East Central will return to action on Monday, Oct. 27, traveling to Meridian Community College for a 6 p.m. first serve.
