DECATUR, Miss. — East Central Community College football came up short in its MACCC home matchup Thursday night, falling 48-2 to Hinds Community College inside Bailey Stadium.
The Warriors (1-4, 1-1 MACCC) managed their lone points in the opening quarter when the special teams unit returned a blocked extra point attempt for a defensive PAT. From there, Hinds (4-1, 2-0 MACCC) controlled the game on both sides of the ball, piling up 407 yards of total offense compared to East Central's 114.
Quarterback Brady Hammonds completed 15 passes for 95 yards, connecting with Eelijah Singleton, Tyler Arrington, and Terry Patton Jr. to lead the receiving corps. Arrington also paced the ground game with 19 rushing yards, while Singletary pulled down five catches for 29 yards. Defensively, La'Garrius Sims made six tackles with two tackles for loss, and Gabriel Bobbitt added five stops including 1.5 tackles for loss.
ECCC will look to regroup when it travels to Perkinston on Thursday, Oct. 9, for another conference test against Mississippi Gulf Coast. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at A.L. May Memorial Stadium.
