Warriors Fall Late to Itawamba in Decatur

DECATUR, Miss. – East Central Community College loss 23-14 to Itawamba on Thursday night at Bailey Stadium.

The Warriors struck first when quarterback Brady Hammonds connected with Eelijah Singleton on a 22-yard touchdown pass in the opening quarter. Hammonds added a second scoring strike in the second quarter, finding Jaquel Dukes from 10 yards out to give ECCC a 14-6 lead.

Itawamba answered before halftime and pulled ahead in the third quarter on a 38-yard touchdown pass. The Indians' defense held the Warriors scoreless in the second half while Eli Burciaga kicked three field goals to seal the win.

Hammonds finished with 324 passing yards and two touchdowns, with Singleton hauling in eight catches for 126 yards and Dukes adding eight receptions for 111 yards. Defensively, Keoni Denny led East Central with 10 tackles, while La'Garrius Sims picked off a pass.

With the loss, the Warriors fall to 0-3 on the season. ECCC returns to action Thursday, Sept. 18, traveling to Poplarville to face Pearl River Community College at 7:00PM CT.
