POPLARVILLE, Miss. — East Central Community College battled to five sets but fell short on the road against Pearl River Community College, 3-2, Monday night inside Shivers Gymnasium.

The Warriors (5-4, 3-3 MACCC) took the opening set 25-18 and answered with a 25-20 win in the third, but Pearl River held on with narrow victories in the second, fourth, and decisive fifth frame (18-25, 25-15, 20-25, 25-23, 15-11).

Sophomore setter Riley Tosseng led ECCC with 12 kills, 10 assists, and 14 total points, while Ainslee Copeland added nine kills and a team-high 16 digs. Addison Vaughn chipped in six kills and four block assists. Emily Truan anchored the back row with a match-high 31 digs.

In total, the Warriors collected 42 kills and 89 digs, keeping the match tight until the end.

East Central returns home on Wednesday, Sept. 17, to face Northeast Mississippi Community College at Founders Gymnasium in Decatur. First serve is set for 6:30 p.m. on Community Bank Court.
