PERKINSTON – East Central Community College bounced back from a slow start to earn a 3-1 road win over Mississippi Gulf Coast on Monday night.
After dropping the opening set 25-13, the Warriors responded with three straight victories (25-19, 25-23, 25-20) to secure the match.
Sophomore middle blocker/setter Riley Tosseng sparked the offense with 16 kills and six digs. Cecilia Hikari-Hosaka added 13 kills and two aces, while freshman setter Anna Wojtczak dished out 38 assists and collected 13 digs.
Middle blocker Addison Vaughn made history at the net, recording seven blocks — the most in a single match in ECCC volleyball history. Libero Emily Truan anchored the defense with a match-high 28 digs.
The Warriors finished with 46 kills, 67 digs, and five service aces.
With the win, ECCC improves to 5-2 overall and sits at No. 3 in the MACCC standings. The Warriors are back in action today, Sept. 10, hosting No. 2 Jones College at 6:30 p.m. in Decatur.
